Updates checkboxes to use the syntax [ ]. Added link to checklist pdf in repo

That did not quite do it. I played a bit around to make it work and updated the PR. Let me know if you think this is ok in the current form (you can preview the rendered version if you click on 'Files changed' and then 'display rich-diff' in the top right corner of the changes).
