I decided to pick up a DHT22 and see what the effects are with a sensor that updates every 30 seconds. The temperature differential dropped from a 2 degree difference down to around 1 degree.
(Note the actual temperature readings in this graph is still from my Aqara for consistency, but the heatpump temperature sensor was driven by a separate ESPHome device powered by a DHT22)
It's probably worth adding a note to the documentation that while Zigbee sensors would likely work better than the internal temperature sensors, ideally something that updates more frequently like Bluetooth or a 433mhz sensor would maximize comfort.
Has anyone here done any testing on the different types of temperature sensors? Zigbee ones tend to send update once there's a 1 degree change, whereas 415mhz sensors sends an update once every 15-20s.
My experience with Zigbee so far has been roughly a 2 degree difference from the set point, e.g. if I set the temperature to 72f, it will drop to 71f and then heat to 73f until it falls back to 71f again. Is the temperature delta smaller with a sensor that updates more frequently?
