New competition type: Club Shootout #1033

We have been running a competition in our state for the past 15 years or so. It involves all state clubs with some kind of specific use cases. We've been using the software for two years and it has many advantages, but a couple drawbacks.

  1. There is no delegation for submission by club. We pick only 4-5 BJCP categories each year, and every club gets up to two submissions per category. This requires all individual brewers to be responsible for entering their entries after the club round is complete (sometimes a club can have 8-10 beers per category to choose from). Before we used this software, we just used email and spreadsheets with each club president being responsible for "entry".
  2. We also have two categories that are not eligible for points, but one IS eligible for a tiebreaker, if needed. The software is enough to define the custom styles and assign "best club" points accordingly, but we can't exclude them from the "best club" calculations, or use them as tie breakers explicitly.

Essentially, the entire competition relies heavily on the points accrued by club (there is a traveling trophy), and the special "Best Damn Beer" category does not get points, except for a tiebreaker (also has a special trophy). Yet another category is not used for club points or tiebreaker, but is just a "for fun" category.

I do not know how popular these use cases are, but it may be something to think about.

This very closely matches an interclub contest we do too. So that's 2 of us :-)
