Enhancement: Cup Labels #1353

Open kmeintsma opened 2 years ago

Some competitions have moved to a double blind format for judging.

To make this possible and reduce errors, having the entry information printed on a label that can be put on the cups is very helpful.

The current software version only permits this for BOS.

If it could be added for normal flights/rounds and mini-bos as well it would be a big help.

Hi @kmeintsma,

Labels for all entries can be created now by using downloaded data and mail merging into MS Word or Google Docs.

First go to Admin > Data Exports > Entries and Associated Data > All Entries: Limited Data CSV in your BCOEM installation.

Open the CSV in Excel or Google Sheets and remove all of the extraneous data, like in this example, leaving the entry or judging number (depending upon what you're using), category, and required info in place. Then, you could sort by category number, save as a CSV, and then perform a Mail Merge in MS Word or Google Docs to produce labels that can be adhered to individual cups.

While it's correct that labels can be created through a data dump and mail merge, the idea for this enhancement is to reduce the workload and decrease the time it takes to get things done. This is particularly important during mini-bos and bos activities because you can't prepare for this in advance.

Having the option just to generate a list of the mini-bos entries by category would be a big help.

If I'm the only customer that want's the enhancement it's probably not worthwhile. I'll keep sending suggestions as I run into problems to be solved.

There is an option that I totally spaced out until today. Under Admin > Entry Sorting > Print Bottle Labels, there is a download called With Required Info - All Styles (entry or judging numbers) - this prints 1-8 labels per entry on 5160/3422 stock of ALL entries in the system.

At present the report is broken down by style in ascending order. It's not broken down by table/flight and there's no option for mini-BOS. Hopefully that is what you're looking for - or at least close to it.

It looks like this (example has 3 labels per entry): image ---- /// ---- image
