enhancement: confirmation email #599

It would be nice if the program could send an automatic confirmation email (customizable) when someone registers as a judge or a steward

Hey Peter, a confirmation email function is planned for the 2.1.0 release, as requested in Issue #378. However, it will have "canned" content - just the vitals that the user entered when creating an account.

Thanks, I missed that one.

I would still like a separate one just for judges & stewards where I could include information specific to their needs, or failing that an email to the competition administrators when people register as judges & stewards.

@PeterSteinberg, what information do you think should be included in a confirmation email to judges and/or stewards upon registration? I was thinking...

The above list could also be emailed to admins upon account creation.

What about other emails that could be generated at any time by admins - not automatically upon registration? Maybe one to each judge detailing table assignments? Other ideas?

The main item I would like added is a customized text block where I could add a brief “thank-you” note and a message letting them know that they have registered as a judge / steward and that they will be getting more specific information at a future date.

I don’t always have time to monitor the site for judge/steward changes to let them know that I’ve received their registration and will be sending them more specific contest information close to the competition date.

Hi Geoff.

Do we have to edit a config file somewhere so BCOE&M knows the SMTP settings of the email account we are using to send confirmation emails? I've never been able to get this function to work...

Thanks, Eric
