hey there, i can add vertices in the middle of a polyline when hideMiddleMarkers is turned off, but how do i append vertex to the end of a polyline without changing the position of existing vertices? is it a functionality yet to be implemented?

This feature is not available. You can upvote the existing Feature Request #294
