When the user hasn't a confirmed email address on their profile, we currently redirect them to their profile page. Except for the message displayed there, this isn't very useful or intuitive.
It'd be better to display that message above (or overlayer over) the actual form, with the submit button disabled and grayed out. (Maybe also disable and gray out any input fields, so that the user doesn't spend time filling them out only to notice at the end that they can't submit the form.)
