res: investigate moving away from writing batch files to execute a job

res, as i understand it right now, writes a sh-ish shell script under 
$USER/.lsbatch/<somedir> which then proceeds to execute.

see if that is a viable strategy. if not, then, 

see if bsub can capture the environment while submitting, first. 

if it is a viable strategy, look for ways to optimize. also looks dependant 
highly on bashisms. must correct. 

bothering me because i do not understand why on earth do you need to translate 
one command into another kind. looks like the easy way out.
