printing WMTS layers display white lines on tile grid #7813

Open landryb opened 2 years ago

landryb commented 2 years ago

Description

extracted from https://github.com/geosolutions-it/MapStore2/issues/7705#issuecomment-1025944868 - i dunno how it behaves with geoserver layers, but with WMTS layers from IGN services or from mapproxy services or from OSM services, one can see really small 1px white lines on WMTS tile borders. This of course doesn't happen with single-image WMS layers printing.

Some users told us the same thing but I do not have diagnostic with my eyes yet.

landryb commented 2 years ago

well try printing pdfs with WMTS coming from geoserver to check if it works with geoserver (which would explain why nobody experienced it so far because ms2 has a strong adherence to geoserver) and then check with a wmts coming from https://wxs.ign.fr/decouverte/geoportail/wmts - easily reproducible on any ms2 installation.

just trying to print a pdf on https://mapstore.geosolutionsgroup.com/mapstore/ with only the OSM background exhibits the issue.

MaelREBOUX commented 2 years ago

I confirm that we met the same issue here. Many users are moaning on that. We have this on all the GeoWebCache WMTS.

[edit] but it concerns only the preview. No pb in the PDF !

@landryb @MaelREBOUX I just tried and it seems working well on our MS DEV instance, a few PDF below. Did I miss something? Are you still experiencing the same issue with the last version?

well, it's still not working well at all since we can clearly see those ugly white lines on the PDFs you uploaded in your comment ...

tdipisa commented 2 years ago

Hi @landryb, really strange. I'm wondering why. Below a few screenshots of PDFs I've attached in my previous comment.

Can you please help me to understand what I'm missing?

landryb commented 2 years ago

wow... crazy, wouldn't have expected that. Now i understand our mutual confusion... here i'm opening the PDFs you uploaded in the builtin firefox pdf viewer and it shows the white lines, appearing/disappearing/changing depending on the zoom levels.

But opening the same pdf in an external pdf viewer (mupdf in my case) or in iridium (a chrome fork) doesn't show the white lines whatever the zoom level. So ... the pdf itself is fine ? And it's a display issue with the firefox builtin pdf viewer ?

@MaelREBOUX ?

It seems so from what I can see.

@MaelREBOUX old issue, but browser issue ? can you confirm that this works opening the pdf in an external viewer ?
