YES PLEASE (put this one at the top of the list)
I wonder if this would be better left to bot_wtc. Not that it can do exactly that but I could see it handling this with another version if folks are willing to use it. I'm using it pretty heavily and it goes great with glz_custom_fields. Just a thought.
That's a good suggestion. I'm waiting for Luca to come back to me, I want to set his plugin up on github and make a few contributions. His plugin does have a lot of ground coverered, I'm wondering if this would fit better there. I'm putting this on hold until I check if it can be done with got_wtc.
Manuel Larino:
One thing that would be great! and I see happening in my sites, is that the left column is really big! I wish there was a togle effect when the custom field is a check box or radio buttons.
Maybe group some custom fields into one toggle, and some in a different toggle...
Just a note here. In the next major TXP release I'm pushing for the custom fields to be in their own separate twisty/hideable block, instead of being lumped under 'Advanced'.
That would be so cool! Want me to submit a patch?
Can do if you got one, thanks. I don't know if it'll be in 4.3.0 (be nice if it was -- not sure if it has any serious backwards compatible ramifications yet) but I'm definitely pushing it for TXP 5.0.
I don't have one, but shouldn't take long to get it done. Will see what I can do this week.
Actually, I moved them last night in my dev copy. I think it works rather well. On the Write tab I now have this set of hideable groups in the left column:
I've deliberately not moved the position of Advanced Options or Recent Articles so that existing plugins that add things to the side bar at the top or bottom aren't inconvenienced.
I think plugins such as lam_article_image attach to the image widget directly so they'll sit neatly inside the Article Image group, but I'll check this before moving forward.
Sounds like a plan to you? Can you think of any plugins that might complain about this splitting up of the Advanced Options group?
This sounds great! I think people will love the fact that Custom Fields now have their separate heading. I don't think anyone will complain about this, quiet the opposite ; ).
Rather than cramming everything under Advanced Options, create a new, user-defined heading. The user will decide which custom fields to put where.
