I would be interested in helping too.
Okay, I'm in too.
Wow, awesome folks! Thanks for the interest! šš
As this issue is the first for a language, Iām not entirely sure how to approach this. I played some ideas out in #202, what do yāall think about those?
Looking at the way the projects are made, I think your approach is good. I can take care of the profanities project, to start with.
I can help with French as well! And I really want to!
@deatheguard Perfect! You can help review https://github.com/words/cuss/pull/15, or maybe start work on retext-equality
? šŖ
Soo, we landed French in cuss
! Thanks @cynferdd, @AurelieBayre, @cedroid09, and @deatheguard for working on this! š
The next step is to add something for French to retext-equality
. Anyone able and interested to work on that?
Hi! Do you still need help with french version? I would be happy to help.
Yes, we do, and that would be lovely! We have a list of profanities, just like in English, but there arenāt any patterns, such as the English ones, which deal with insensitive stuff like condescending language, or gendered terms. Help with that is greatly appreciated. If youāre interested, I suggest starting small. Taking a couple of patterns from an existing English file and translating them.
Would you be interested in that? How I can I help you?
@wooorm Great, I would love to help with this!
Awesome. Some more information is in the Contributing section btw. Let me know if you run into troubles, Iāll help you!
@wooorm To be sure to understand, you are suggesting to take en
retext-equality et try to translate it ?
Thanks a lot for your work.
Hi SĆ©bastien! That is correct, Iām suggesting to take the English existing rules and translate them. Although: itās important to note that every language language is different. Certain suggestions may be OK in English but would be incorrect (or maybe even harmful?) in French, and the other way around.
Most of the suggestions in the English ruleset come from somewhat ārespectedā sources (e.g., news organizations, or lgbtq+ groups), and from user submissions. So Iād also suggest looking into lists of ārespectedā sources in French?
ok i will try to involve people that can help me to get those sources.
Subject of the issue
As instructed in the #202 post, I created this issue in order to start something about translating in french. I may be able to help.
