Had the same problem, although on Windows. Have a suspicion its something to do with VSCode updating while having Cursor installed which breaks something - specifically something that doesn't get cleaned up when uninstalling Cursor.
If you have VSCode, maybe try removing that too.
I used a tool on Windows called Revo Uninstaller, which sorted it for me, but I have found this that looks like a similar option for Mac: https://freemacsoft.net/appcleaner/
I recently wanted to test our Cursor but unfortunatelly it worked only for one day. The day after it just doesn't start anymore. I couldn't find any debug options or logging to figure out whats happening.
I am on mbp intel @ Sonoma 14.5
However, for such cases there should be some debugging mode that allows us to see whats going on. Uninstalling another software is probably not the solution to a Issue that we don't know.

Starting this AM i can’t open Cursor anymore--I tried restarting, uninstalling and downloading/installing a new version, and it won’t open (no error message, just flashes whatever window i have open). I checked activity monitor and there’s only a CursorUIViewService running with 11mb ram, and I’ve tried force quitting that and no change.
