Not Working - Sketch Version 52.3 #100

Open chadostergren opened 5 years ago

chadostergren commented 5 years ago

Hey guys,

I am trying to use Styles Generator for the first time and it is not working on 52.3.

When I tap "Inventory > Generate >" then select "colors, textiles, and symbols" I am hit with the "Adding Background" and the style sheet produced is blank.

Any thoughts or solutions would be great and thanks!

Same for me. Is it broken for Sketch 52.3?

inessashillo commented 5 years ago

Same. Really need a fix.

Is this plugin abandoned? It was very useful but the author hasn't commented here or updated the code in months.

chadostergren commented 5 years ago

Not too sure...but no helpful answers thus far. ᐧ

@getflourish is not in the debt of the users of his software, he built it to solve a problem for himself, if you need something like his software, build it yourself if you need it.

Then why put it up on git?

Do you write every tool that you use yourself?

He did not make this for just himself, or he wouldn't have written up nicely formatted instructions for other users, advertised that it's available on Sketch Runner, and responded to other issues in the past.

The author is free to abandon it if he wants, but that doesn't mean we can't ask if it's abandoned. The good open source citizen thing to do would be to mark it accordingly, but we all know that often doesn't happen.

Wind your neck in, precious.

@hotdishtoby actually I do unless I’m willing to accept that something I depend on could break, like Apollo client I can’t push a product to production currently due do a bug, but these are things I have to accept when I depend on code I don’t own.

👋 I indeed did not update this plugin in a long time. As you can read in the README.md, I fixed it earlier this year:

14 April 2018: The plugin has been updated to work with Sketch 49.

Back then it was quite some work. I’m not using the plugin anymore and don’t plan to update it anytime soon. Feel free to fork it and mess around with it. Or even better, make a PR. :)

I wish I could spend more time on it, but right now I’m working on something bigger

@getflourish Good for you, sunbeam. It was a cracker of a plugin and Sketch's continual updates do cause a lot of backwards compatibility problems. All power to you. Cheers.

hotdishtoby commented 5 years ago

@getflourish thanks for the info! good to know. Ratio looks like a good tool, looking forward to seeing that in action :)

lifeiscontent commented 5 years ago

@getflourish can I beta test?

yuriryzhenkov commented 5 years ago

The same is in version 52.6

Does anyone have a suggestion of an alternative plugin?

forestwas commented 5 years ago

Does anyone have a suggestion of an alternative plugin?

@sjclark you can use @ashung's Automate plugin with some manual work. It also has a bunch of useful features.

@forestwas thanks for the suggestion! (also you have a horrifying number of plugins in that screenshot!)

You're welcome!

I was a plugin-junkie on those days I used Sketch :) I have switched to Figma recently and don't use that much plugin anymore
