2 years ago So brainstorming a bit about this today and I had a thought that would allow current users of Discord, Slack and Telegram to keep using said mediums, but all new users would use the official realtime chat.
Basically I've slimmed down the Slack to have a single #general channel. Do the same for Discord, and Telegram doesn't have channels so we don't need to worry. Then all conversations would happen in this single channel. Create a relay bot that would sit between all mediums and relay messages back and forth.
Post a message in Slack, Discord would have a bot post the same message with your name attached.
Same with Slack and Telegram.
Once official chat is brought in, you'd link your Makerlog account to your Discord/Slack/Telegram, and then if you message on one of them, it'll be sync'd to your actual account as if you posted it in the official chat yourself.
Once the official chat is done, Slack, Discord and Telegram would be locked down to new users and only existing users can have their cake and eat it too, all new users would be directed to the official Makerlog chat.
Right now Makerlog realtime chat is fragmented between Telegram, Discord and Slack. Either we need to come together into one medium that exists, or make our own that becomes the official.
I'd like to explore building our own that way you have a single account for all stuff Makerlog, and we can also integrate into the site and make things so much better!
