Name of the software: fcitx5-mcbopomofo Project/product Homepage: https://github.com/openvanilla/fcitx5-mcbopomofo Why we should include this into the repository, i.e. what does it do that the alternatives do not? There are not many Wayland compatible input methods, but fcitx is one of them (on Xorg ibus works). Additionally, people from Taiwan, who depend on traditional Chinese/bopomofo (also called zhuyin) input method does not use simplified Chinese/pinyin for typing. As far as I've found, this is one of the few options on Wayland for bopomofo/zhuyin input method. Is it open source? Yes, MIT If it is open source, please provide a link to the most up to date, versioned source tarball/zipfile. master.zip links will not be accepted. https://github.com/openvanilla/fcitx5-mcbopomofo/blob/master/LICENSE.txt If there are no upstream releases but the inclusion policy is otherwise met, please provide a link to the source repository (i.e. GitHub) https://github.com/openvanilla/fcitx5-mcbopomofo

Is there a time frame for getting fcitx5 with bopomofo to Solus repositories or is it high odds it won't be added? This is the last thing before I can switch to Wayland.

Package maintainership is up for grabs. Feel free to follow our documentation to package and maintain it going forward if you wish. https://help.getsol.us/docs/packaging/

From a cursory look, it looks very simple to package.

Thanks, I started packaging it a bit based on the already existing fcitx-package, quite fun, but so far no success building the package.

I just noticed that flatpak has fcitx5 and a bunch of bopomofo-options so I went with that instead, works fine with Solus on Wayland. :sun_with_face: :+1:
