I'm rescinding this package request for two reasons:
gnome-boxes
package instead while investigating (1), and so far, it's been fine. I have to concur. I managed to get the EFI boot manager to load but couldn't get any further. I even tried substituting the OVMF files from other distros. And adding user to group 'libvirt' and such.
It felt initially like the issue that happens with Arch, when people install 'qemu-base' as a package and not 'qemu-desktop'. There might be a dependency missing somewhere but I couldn't spot one ....
See notes here
Reopening this as it is still a good addition to the repository.
