You are very cool and have done a lot of work, you have already gained experience in creating applications and it will take you less time to create new applications, it would be cool to see VPN applications like WireGuard and Outline
@Mauladen Historically VPN applications & Docker don't go very well together.
On the contrary, we already have Tailscale in Umbrel which is the best option to use a VPN with docker for secure access.
Jackett! I was about to start working on this one. Saved me some time. 😄

Yeah. Working on it.
Nice. I'm working on one right now that would be p2p. I would love to see your apps if my store works out.
Hey, what is the app with the Q logo? It looks like the Qubes OS logo. I don’t see it in any of your apps you submitted.
It's of Quant UX
. I think I missed adding the PR link here. WIll do. Thanks.

Made my community-app-store. Add it to your Umbrel if you want https://dub.sh/app-store
Awesome! Adding to my Umbrel soon.
Hey @IMPranshu, thank you for running this poll and working so hard to bring apps to the app store! We really appreciate your commitment and drive, and it's clear that the Community does as well.
Our app store is growing at a strong pace, and we (Umbrel) cannot keep taking on the overhead of maintaining apps or relying solely on Community members to maintain apps (and in some cases the actual Docker images). Under this model, it is too easy for apps to languish in buggy or outdated states. This is why we are encouraging original developers of the apps to submit apps and keep them updated. As an example, we recently handed over the Core Lightning app to Blockstream.
That being said, we are happy to consider community-implemented app submissions if there's enough interest from other Umbrel users. Let's keep this Issue open so people can continue to stop by and vote for apps. This will allow us to determine when an app has enough popularity to warrant including it in the app store.
With that in mind let's get these 5 apps you submitted onto the app store, since I see that they have been requested by at least one user in the past and they have official, tagged, multi-arch Docker images:
I will close all other submission PRs for now, but these can be opened again if/when we see enough user interest, or the official app developers want to submit and maintain the app. I have listed them (along with their image type) here for our records:
Lastly, great work creating your own Community App Store! This is a perfect use-case for this. Also FYI, we are considering adding an app to allow users to install any Docker app that they want.
I'm a data engineer and would like to see more decentralized data solutions. SQLitebrowser would be nice!
Ps, I've tried building a MySQL/phpmyadmin app for Umbrel, but I'm not proficient enough in building Umbrel apps to get it running. If you have projects I can help you with and where you can teach me at the same time let me know.

Have a PR for SqliteBrowser. It would be great if you could comment to open the PR https://github.com/getumbrel/umbrel-apps/pull/682 and pray that Umbrel lords may open it and merge it soon.

In the meantime you can use my community app store to use the SQLitebrowser if you want https://github.com/IMPranshu/umbrel-community-app-store/tree/master
Already found it, thanks
@nmfretz Please open the Duplicati PR based on https://forum.duplicati.com/t/duplicati-container-for-umbrel/17486
I vote for including Duplicati to the store as a backup app. At the time of this writing there is only one backup option and it supports the Apple community only. I think it makes sense to have a backup app like Duplicati added to Umbrel as it supports both the Windows and Linux communities.
I had been using duplicati for about a year but it looked like the development was paused/stopped for a while and that it wasn't really maintained anymore. Seems like there's some activity now, so we'll see.
Apart from that, Duplicati is doing the job BUT it is single threaded... While doing a backup it was making my CPU go crazy at 100% which wasn't ideal as it'd impact the machine it runs on.
As an alternative I have tested and been using Kopia for about a year or two now and the backups are really smooth and the CPU never goes any higher than 40% keeping the temperature and response time to a better level IMO. So I'd consider having Kopia instead of Duplicati.
Kopia UI is also great as it lets you go through all the different backups, see the files, download them, restore them, etc in a nicer way than Duplicati.
I unfortunately had to test the restore function for both, and they both work great (and saved my :bacon: a few times!).
Umbrel is looking really good but I cannot think of using it until there's a proper backup/restore solution (in my case with S3/Minio support). It's one of the price you have to pay with self hosted apps right? Better have several backups if you don't want to ever lose the data.
Also, I think on top of my head that Duplicati does that but Kopia does it for sure: Incremental and dedup backups. So really only what's changed is being backed up incrementally, helping to keep really reasonable backup size even for frequent backups on large data sets that don't update much. For example if you have thousands of pics, it's unlikely you'll edit them. More likely that you'll add more, which is fine but Kopia wouldn't backup AGAIN the old pics already backed up.
Thanks for the Umbrel project, it looks fantastic I look forward giving it a go.
@maxime1992 I just started to test both because I need a solution to backup my pg dumbs. My initial thought is that despite Kopia being over all better, Duplicati is simple to use and more intuitive and also better for self-hosting environment. That could explain why on DockerHub duplicati/duplicati
and linuxserver/duplicati
have together 100M+ pulls and kopia/kopia
just 1M+.
Duplicati has a simpler UI, for sure. But it made my backup process miserable after a few months to backup less than a 100 gb, whereas Kopia just works flawlessly. One less intuitive setup to do once might be better to struggle for all the daily backups IMO. I really hope that either Kopia improve their UI OR that duplicati improve the performances. But neither seem to want to work on that
Hello Maxime,
My experience with Duplicati has been kind of "set it and forget it". Zero maintenance so far. I didn't have to make any data restores yet, so in theory I didn't run a full circle with Duplicati as far as a backup process is concerned. In the meantime, I gave up the idea of using Umbrel. Some people from the crypto scene were arrested recently, so I have changed my mind about using an infrastructure authorities have an eye on.
Cheers

I have been using Duplicati for nearly a year before switching to Kopia, so I know what Duplicati is like and as I say, I absolutely love it, except for the perfs. I also had to use the restore function for real and it worked perfectly. That said, same experience with Kopia. Once setup, I never think about it and yet I've had to use it 2 times to restore broken stuffs and it was perfect too. But while Duplicati is a lot nicer to setup several backups compared to Kopia, Kopia eats way less CPU and is a lot faster. Duplicati used to make my CPU go 100% for like 15mn. With Kopia it never goes above 50% and yet everything is backed up faster.
As for crypto stuffs, I'm not interested in it, especially not with Umbrel. I'm interested in Umbrel not for me as I self host everything with Docker myself but rather for friends and family who know nothing about code and need something simple for photos and documents app.
What do I want?
Hi Everyone!! I have been extensively working on adding apps to the Umbrel app store and would appreciate your honest opinion on the apps you like and want to go live. You can choose multiple apps as well, type the name of the apps in the comment.
Below are the apps that I currently have Drafts ready for:
Why this Poll is needed?
As I worked on them and realized that people won't necessarily need them and also got this response at the time of opening these PRs.
So I want to hear your opinion if you would love to have them on the Umbrel App Store or not...
Why this Issue now & not before?
As I was burned out after seeing my work turning to ashes but now Umbrel Home is being released and the hardware just got more powerful opening the doors to run power-hungry apps that too simultaneously so I thought that this will be the best time to be back in the business of publishing apps for Umbrel App store.
Thanks for reading guys. Do vote for your favorite apps below in the comments :-)
