I am not sure whether we know the answer to this question, but I am not yet
clear –
The question is “Why do we exist as a company?”

If the answer is “ to provide software solution the Leather companies” -
is I
believe, very shallow response.

What makes our software “unique” – how are we different from other
service providers?

This uniqueness brings the long-term commitment from the customers. The
uniqueness
can be in the design (German cars), user experience (Gmail) or can be in the
service
delivery (the way we go out of our way to service the customers). Basically I
am
looking for the “VOW!” factor here – nice surprise for the customer. We
need to think
long and hard, and get the innovative ideas to flow here.

3)Absolutely no bugs in the code, I mean absolutely, not 99% bug free code.
Does the
bug-free code gives you the entry-card to be in the game (business)? Yes. But
does it
give you the “outright” position to be in the game? Hardly. We need to
develop more
than just “bug free” code.

4)Recruitment – We may need to spend long and hard hours in our recruitment
– I know
it is hard to keep the good ones. May be we need to travel and go to
poly-technic
instead of BEs . I know lots of diploma holders are doing much better than
IITians in
here (Sydney). Look for the sprit in them – travel to all the polytechnics
and get
the good ones. We may need to spend more time than it is necessary, but I
can’t
stress the importance of the recruitment – it is basically a make or break
decision
for the company (not for the employees).

5)Take the “pain” out of customer operations – in some form. The solution
may not be
the ERP at all. If the customer can save money by re-arranging the operations,
by
following the best practice. – then advocate it if it means “the lost
opportunity”
for our sales.

My responses:

1. We exist as a company to build and operate the platform on which companies
and
individuals in leather industry transact business

2. Agree with this. We should brainstorm and identify WOW areas in product
usage,
service and other customer interfacing situations. We will brainstorm on this.

3. Agree with this. We are working on it.

4. Not sure how to do it. We do not have a HR team to start doing this full
time. If
I were to get into this it is going to eat into other activities.

5. Well, but we do believe that our ERP is the cure all solutions for the
clients :-)
