Default Coloring:

• when points/areas are dark, highlight color should be high luminance, eg limegreen, orange, blue
• when groups are colored then a paired palette with one extra color might be generated. The first three colors, left duller of pair would be the persistent color, and the highlighting color would be the fourth color with higher (subtler) luminance.
