Hello,
It's a known issue that the ringtone-chooser doesn't show which ringtone was
previously selected.
Does it play the correct ringtone after announcement?
Thanks for your report

Thanks for the quick reply! No, it does not play the correct ringtone after
the announcement. I've tried both with "Play Ringtone" on ("...after I've
announced the caller") and off ("...during speech"). In both cases, it plays
the announcement and no ringtone.
This may be related: every time I toggle the "Play Ringtone" setting, I get a
little pop-up message that says "Ringtone is now silent!" It doesn't matter if
I'm turning it on or off, that message appears.

I am having the exact same problem on my Motorola Droid.

Sorry for the late response.
This version has a fixed "Play ringtone"-feature:
http://code.google.com/p/roadtoadc/downloads/detail?name=SayMyName_2.4.5.apk
Please reselect your desired ringtone. :)
If you can't find any issues, I'll release this update on the Android Market
tomorrow.
Thank you
Tom

Here's what I did and the results of my test.
TEST 1:
1. Uninstalled Market version.
2. Installed linked APK.
3. Opened SayMyName and configured it as before.
4. Had a friend call me.
Results 1:
- The name wasn't spoken because it wasn't in my Contacts yet. (I didn't
realize that I didn't yet have this person's Google Voice number.)
- Two ringtones played at once, the one I selected in SayMyName and one I had
never heard before, presumably some default ringer (see below).
TEST 2:
1. Added my friend's new number to my Contacts.
2. Went into phone's sound settings.
3. Noticed that *NO* ringtone was selected.
4. Selected the same ringtone I selected in SayMyName.
5. Had a friend call me.
Results 2:
- The speech played this time, of course.
- The selected ringtone also played at the same time as the speech.
- Once the speech was done, a second instance of the same ringtone started
playing.

Oh, the menu where you select the ringtone in SayMyName is still always on
"Silent," and it still says "Ringtone is now silent!" when toggling the Play
Ringtone setting on or off.

So, the correct ringtone plays AFTER speech, right? In order to disable the
other one just go to your settings and set it to silent. I know that it's
annoying, but it works fine on my phone and I had this problem for a few
versions now. Maybe I can fix it in later versions...
Sorry and thank you for testing.

Yes, it does play the correct ringtone after speech. I don't have the option
to set the phone's ringtone setting to Silent, but SMN disables it for me when
I toggle the setting, so it's working as intended now. (There is a related
issue when turning "Play Ringtone" off, but I'll file that as a separate issue.)
There is still a usability issue here, IMO. The ringtone menu in SMN still
always says "Silent." You mentioned that this is a "known issue." Is there an
issue on here I can star to get updates on progress?

Unfortunately this is an Android-related issue (at least I think so). I'm not
able to change the selection in the menu, but it's saved correctly in the
background. :)

Would you accept a patch if I can put one together?

I downloaded the 2.4.5 apk from this thread and installed it. The problem is
fixed for my phone. SMN reads the caller's name and then plays the ring tone.
I had to set the ringtone to silent in phone settings as stated above. Slightly
annoying, but still very usable. Thanks!
