SayMyName stopped working with last update #89

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Receiving email (Gmail) or text (either Google Voice or regular)
2.
3.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I expected it to announce the name and subject of emails, and announce/read
SMS. I only get the notification sound, SMN does nothing.

What version of the product are you using?
SayMyName 2.4.2 shows in the apps, however my Market Downloads shows SayMyName
Dessert, SayMyName, and aSyMyName Donate.

Please provide any additional information below.
It was working great until I installed the latest update. Then I noticed it
only worked intermittently. I completely shut down my phone, waited a minute,
and restarted it. It then seemed to be working. Overnight I put my phone on
silence and in the morning I turn it back to sounds. SayMyName was not working
at all. I sent myself emails and texts to check, but it did not work. I checked
the settings, they looked good, I stopped and restarted SMN. If I click the
test in SMN settings I can hear the test fine. It still did not work at all for
gmail/SMS.

I checked the market but no updates. I removed it from the phone and
reinstalled it, but it still does not work. I'm not sure what happened because
it was working perfectly before.

Announcing Calls (set for 2x) work intermittently.

Not Rooted Nexus One, FRG83, 2.2.1
TTS: default is svox Classic, also have Pico TTS and eSpeak TTS installed. SMN
recognizes my default ok.
57mb free app memory
Google Voice Actions is installed (in case of conflict, but they worked
together before last SMN update)
Google Voice SMS and Gmail apps used.

Thanks!

Hello,

First, please uninstall ALL versions of SayMyName. You don't need to leave
SayMyName Donate installed (thanks for donating by the way. :)).
Afterwards install "SayMyName Dessert" from Android Market again. Your phone
will call it just "SayMyName", that's ok.

Don't change settings now. Wait for a call / sms and see if SayMyName works.

Tell me if it works now.

Good luck
Tom
