What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

Sound should play through bluetooth headset, instead sound is heard through
external speaker of Freerunner.

Freerunner: GTA02 A5
OS: Android Cupcake 1.5 (built from AoF source on 2010-11-12)

Back to the original issue post, is this issue due to incorrect alsa sound
config files, or is it a problem in the code?

I am unsure whether the problem is coding or setup, perhaps someone with more
understanding then myself in these matters can shed some light.

I had made a start by modifying the asound.conf file in /etc/system (see
attached)

However it didn't worked.

For the basis of this modification I used the attached link
http://custom-android-sciphone-n19.googlecode.com/files/asound.conf along with
the work Yi did.
