Avogadro is an advanced molecular editor designed for cross-platform use in computational chemistry, molecular modeling, bioinformatics, materials science, and related areas. It offers flexible rendering and a powerful plugin architecture.
It seems that Avogadro is still quite unstable. It crashes w/o any sort of error messages all the time with the most mundane tasks. E.g. view molecule properties (where I would expect some pretty simple information, e.g. name of file, any included annotations, crude molecular formula, maybe even a SMILES rendering and molecular weight. Even doing such exotic molecules as benzene crashes the application w/o any sort of error message. Maybe these are written to a log some place.
