The installation program doesn't find the files: mshy3samiNorthern-NO.dll, mshy3samiNorthern-NO.lex, mshy3samiLule-NO.dll, mshy3samiLule-NO.lex, even though they exist in http://www.divvun.no/static_files/sami-proofing-tools-20070910.zip

Could describe precisely what happens from the time you press the link above? Does the .zip file get unpacked automatically after it has been downloaded? Do you manually press the install program, or does it start automatically?

Polderland is about to deliver an updated installer. We should probably wait with further actions until we have that one. It is due this or next week.

2007-09-17 Peter Beinema: tried to install on US Vista, US Office 12. Bug is reproducible, depending on actions user.

Explanation: explorer "understands" zipfies, sees their contents, and displays its internal structure as if they were normal directories. The installation tools (amongst others, installShield) however, does NOT understand zipfile internals, and can not find the subsequent files needed.

Possible solution: if we create a self-extraction installer (single exe) that unzips itself first and then starts setup.exe, then the problem is automatically solved: zipping has already happened.

A new speller is on its way, with all exe and dll files code-signed for Vista. Installation is still somewhat semi-automatic, and may fail if not done properly. Here are the installation instructions:

Installation

  1. make sure that the account used has administrator privileges
  2. make sure that the MS Office applications to be used are installed
  3. de-install existing installations of the Sámi proofing tools installer
  4. copy the unzipped file structure to a directory on a local hard disk (e.g., C:\Sami)
  5. go to the directory containing the unzipped files (e.g. DISK1)
  6. run setup.exe

The new spellers will be announced when ready.

We will hopefully soon have a fully automatic installer for Windows, which should prevent such problems as described in this bug report.

The 1.0 release installer should fix this issue. It is tested by Polderland, but I have not been able to test this myself.

It would be very helpful if Audun could download the latest speller, and try to install / reproduce the bug using this link:

http://www.divvun.no/static_files/DivvunInstaller-20071209.exe

It should install properly, also on Vista (no problems on XP, and everything runs automatically, with only the usual few clicks).

I'll leave the bug open until the fix has been confirmed.
