MS Office 2007 gives North Sámi suggestions in the context menu when the language is changed to Lule Sámi. The suggestions in the speller dialog are correct.

Please see the attached screen shoots.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. remove any previous Divvun proofing tools
  2. download and install http://www.divvun.no/static_files/sami-proofing-tools-20070928.zip
  3. open a blank document in Office 2007, and type 'nuvviD ' (without the quotes)
  4. select the whole text (Ctrl-A) and set the language to North Sámi (Norway)
  5. check the suggestions in both the context menu and the dialog (there is no version signature, unfortunately, it has probably fallen off the suggestions list with too many penalty points)
  6. select the whole text again, and set the language to Lule Sámi (Norway)
  7. check the suggestions in the context menu, and note that they are exactly the same as for North Sámi
  8. check the suggestions in the spelling/proofing dialog, and note that it now gives only two corrections: the string 'Divvun', and the version string for Lule Sámi.

Conclusion:

Explanation why it is unlikely that the observed (but not reproducible) behaviour) is caused by the speller: The speller has no control whatsoever over language settings for words. MS Word decides which proofing tools will be fed with which words. Language is not passed as parameter. W.r.t. representation of results: suggestions are returned to word in 1 form that is independent of the representation chosen by the user / word. For as far as I am aware, Word does not store suggestion results for future use: all results are used immediately, and when required at a later moment, a new request is sent to the appropriate proofing tool.
