Submission Process with Blackboard down #18

Hi Kendall, we're plugging along but Blackboard has erased your class from us accessing it - I assume it was on a timer like last year.

I posted a zip file with our project and a sample of our documentation on Thursday as a snapshot of "where we are now" on the Discussion board with the intent of using the time we needed and submitting through blackboard when we were ready for the jing video ( hopefully sometime tonight or relatively early tomorrow.)

What we will be doing is posting a folder in the shared DropBox labeled "Final for Kendall", and zipping up everything code, netbeans project, Design Document, jing videos and emailing you a copy using this email. Of course the GitHub is public so you will also have that.

The only thing we don't have is the team evaluation forms because we were going to download them after the video portion. If you could reply with an attached copy that would be great.

If we don't manage to hear back by the time we do the video portion, I will find one that meets your description and distribute that to the team where they can each email you individually. So BlackBoard being down won't stop us from meeting the requirements as written but we did want to give you a heads up that we can't submit through BlackBoard.

Also as a "just in case" I'll be submitting a word doc that is just the code for all the code as part of the documentation. Because I'm all about strategic risk reduction.

Kendall's repsonse

Plan sounds fine- go ahead abd submit as you're talking about here.

Ok - its 2 am - I've put something extremely stub like for a driver that has all the prompts but pretty much imaginary variables and methods to be filled in with the methods from the program. I believe that I can tie the use case into the tests in the test unit, but if someone has insomnia and wants to tackle this or Max checks in and just wants to used the system.out.print prompts for the user and user response the code is there in Dropbox JavademicPlayerDriver.com. We've got Jordan and Brian's video. The team eval is in Dropbox thanks to Jordan. I'm turning in for the night and planning on shooting my jing in the morning around 10. If there's no video from Chino, Max or Bruce I'll go over their work as well to make sure they're included. If there's no activity here or on Dropbox by then, I'm packing up everything as it currently stands and submitting it in it's current form including "in process" code. We can send an update if work gets done after that but we should consider it the team submission - as soon as it's packaged a copy of the zip package will be added to Dropbox in it's own folder.

Remember to fill out your team eval and email it to Kendall indiviually - the submission for the team final project on Blackboard is a single submission from all of us.

Good Night - I'll check in with everyone on this issue thread as soon as I'm ready to ship the project out.

Getting ready to download and package things up for submission. Jordon's cards merged into the master but the most current testing code is in the Testing Branch Max did some form of documentation master commit yesterday so I'm going to spend a little time to check the source code working together to make sure I'm packaging everything that shows team work.

I figure start to finish at this point will take about an hour so if anyone has any last minute things that are a reason to delay further you have about an hour to let me know - I'm going to submit the big zip into Blackboard which is miraculously still there. The Email and Dropbox submissions outlined in this issue are still going forward and will also be available to update. Remember that we submitted an "inprogress zip" on thursday through the discussion board as well.

Ok - shooting my part of the video now.

Looking at the dropbox it seems like you're making lots of progress. Just let me know if there's any way I can help finish things up.

I'm putting together the final folder now - I'll do a pretty edit of the video for her when I'm done with finals On Dec 18, 2011, at 12:52 PM, Jordan wrote:

Sounds good. Just a comment. It looks like the card and roles classes in src are from before I added documentation.

drinne commented 12 years ago

They are - testing isn't merged with master and testing has the unit tests that prove the functionality - I'm doing a full word text document of all the code in the MasterFile where your stuff was merged but I don't know if I should merger the working tests with the master file - so I'm erring on the side of caution because I'm worried about the time . I'll update the netbeans project if Bruce tells me the merge won't disrupt things but I'm going to put an explination at the beginning of the word code doc.

I'm having an issue with the Final For Kendall.zip file. It is showing up with a size of 0 KB, and it won't extract. Anybody having an issue?

drinne commented 12 years ago

Ok I had the same issue - using a different program to make the zip

I'm still having issues with the zip file. I tried creating one locally and got an error saying that it could not compress the document files as they contained illegal characters. I assume this is the same issue you ran into. I guess if Kendall runs into an issue when trying to grade though, she always has direct access to the files on dropbox.

drinne commented 12 years ago

Your'e having issues with the new one? Because that one is working for me. I'm sending her a straight email as well right now

I just see the same 0kb file in dropbox. Unless I'm looking in the wrong folder. Though as long as the one emailed/turned in works, it's not really a big issue.

drinne commented 12 years ago

I just had to move the 282MB one out for a minute to insert the file into the email - if it doesn't say it's 282 it's the wrong one - try to refresh the dropbox. or see if it downloads from the website

It'll take me a minute to download it, but the new one just popped up on web version of dropbox and it shows the correct filesize.

jrackley commented 12 years ago

Ok. I just extracted this one, and I can confirm it works perfectly. Everything looks great, thanks!

drinne commented 12 years ago

Whew - what a relief!
