Research Objects are becoming more widely accepted as a normal means to package together a variety of related objects. It is based on schema.org annotation schema is a widely adopted standard, making RO-crates likely to be around for a reasonable length of time. 1- We should investigate exactly what goes into the "crates" and whether all of that information can be automatically populated from the database already? If not, whats missing and can it be added to the database? 2- Investigate the relationship of RO-crates to frictionless-data packages, are they interoperable? could there be a simple conversion between the two? 3- what are the tools out in the world that make use of RO-crates already? i.e. is there really a market for us to provide them for? or is it just another way to say hey look at us we're trendy! 4 - look for alternatives that maybe more appropriate or more advanced to determine if this is something worth investing time and effort in developing over the alternatives.
