Closed nachotacos69 closed 5 months ago

nachotacos69 commented 5 months ago

Reason: I have no clue, i only translated some minor parts of this game, it doesnt show fully the texts of the enemy

this crashes on actual PSP so yeah

Screenshot: NPJH50352_00002

nachotacos69 commented 5 months ago

also when unpacking a already patched game, you get this error: image

nachotacos69 commented 5 months ago

another is, when the dlc article.tr2, dlc npc related texts are translated, it results into full freeze the ppsspp can handle this issue and crashed when selecting members while the PSP cant after loading your savedata

gil-unx commented 5 months ago

which file are you edited? en_trig_group_display_name ?

nachotacos69 commented 5 months ago

en_base, en_trig files are okay, they didn't do any issues since I only translated the body parts, the en_base files that contains aragami names that I translated crashes when changed to English counterparts

gil-unx commented 5 months ago

which file, please spesific the filename

nachotacos69 commented 5 months ago

en_base_display_name I believe

gil-unx commented 5 months ago

ULUS10563?

nachotacos69 commented 5 months ago

ULUS10563?

All of the enemy names or other enemy necessary values and such are put inside of a en_ like name in a .tr2 format

Refer to Mission Parameters:

https://github.com/nachotacos69/WikiEater/tree/main/GOD%20EATER%20BURST/Mission%20Parameters

I made small documentations on some files like that

nachotacos69 commented 5 months ago

No matter what version you have, either US, JP. They use this file types

nachotacos69 commented 5 months ago

The only difference is that the ULUS10563 version contains some enus folder, which is where the English texts or other English related files comes in, while the JP uses none of those

well that great

nachotacos69 commented 5 months ago

Also some text files contained base64 encoding, which I assume it's normal as well?

gil-unx commented 5 months ago

Also some text files contained base64 encoding, which I assume it's normal as well?

that the ascii file, sometime the file containing non ascii char, so that make file different when encode/decode, for now i dont know how to handle that, so i keep them original

nachotacos69 commented 5 months ago

I'll keep that in mind then 👍

nachotacos69 commented 5 months ago

I hope that this gets another update soon, I might re do my entire translation from the start since the tool can't really extract a already patched game so yeah.. take your time fixing your tool

the gebcv tool thats great, are they still active? exporting tr2 to excel format that great idea

nachotacos69 commented 5 months ago

the gebcv tool thats great, are they still active? exporting tr2 to excel format that great idea

It's discontinued now since they are done with their projects, but they left a open source of their script, they have TR2 editor that modifies, detects version and exports the tr2 into a excel format yes

nachotacos69 commented 5 months ago

All of the tool was originally for god eater 2 rage burst and resurrection but the tr2 editor supports all versions of TR2 from the PSP version to the current PC ports

gil-unx commented 5 months ago

well i will took the tr2 editor

nachotacos69 commented 5 months ago

okay then, good luck. 👍

Also maybe make the tr2 extraction of the texts inside of it as optional, so we can just use/edit only one tr2 file I guess instead of editing multiple tets then encoding it into one?.. I dunno

gil-unx commented 5 months ago

adding gecv export tr2 to excel, replace Import column to 1 to import string file

gil-unx commented 5 months ago

but it take long time when export/import tr2, espesialy for big tr2 file

nachotacos69 commented 5 months ago

Oh, right, nevermind then

nachotacos69 commented 5 months ago

Just take your time updating the tool

nachotacos69 commented 5 months ago

I might ask if the experimental pointer mode is accurate or not?, It makes the iso out of place, for example, when replacing a audio that is a few bytes more than the original. It plays sometimes and it crashes sometimes

gil-unx commented 5 months ago

that is a few bytes more than the original. It plays sometimes and it crashes sometimes

please spesific the filename,

pointing mode mean, the file is inserted at end of .rdp. Sometime the file in .rdp is loaded by multiple *.res file. Example: .\system\god_menu\god_game\024_Building_Mission1\MS_101N_ouga.res and .\system\god_menu\god_game\027_Tower_Mission4\MS_101N_ouga.res

that mean MS_101N_ouga.res is loaded by .\system\god_menu\god_game\024_Building_Mission1.res and .\system\god_menu\god_game\027_Tower_Mission4.res

so if we edit/enlarge MS_101N_ouga.res in 024_Building_Mission1.res without edit/enlarge another MS_101N_ouga.res, it's possible that the pointers won't match, so you have to edit all the exact same files, Looks like we have to create a list the same file, maybe use a checksum for that.

nachotacos69 commented 5 months ago

Take a mission bgm for example bgm_btl_018.at3, it's original file size is somewhere around 369kb I think. And if we replace it with a different bgm/audio with a size of 400kb, it will mismatch and break the game after repacking it.

In the other hand, if we replace the bgm/audio below original file size, it will work throughout the game without any issues

nachotacos69 commented 5 months ago

Here's a video example with custom BGM from a Modified Mission (click on the image): image

gil-unx commented 5 months ago

the full package repacker is done,

sample with custom BGM, https://youtu.be/YhduwyBtT_w

sadly, the bgm is fixed buffer, the maximum for at3 file size is 512 kb, bigger than that make game crash.

nachotacos69 commented 5 months ago

Alright, then. Thanks 👍

Also, have you tried making the tool unpack some games that are already patched/ heavily modified?, Like my English patch for my GEB [NPJH50352] as a example

gil-unx commented 5 months ago

that already fixed

nachotacos69 commented 5 months ago

that already fixed

Thank you,

also in case you wanna mod god eater 2 in the future, GECV tend to hint how god eater 2 works but some parts atleast so yeah.. I'm just saying

nachotacos69 commented 5 months ago

I'm gonna close this issue tomorrow, I need to check certain parts on the files later so yeah..

nachotacos69 commented 5 months ago

good morning, im gonna ask if the TR2 decode/encode commands work at all, i feel silly using the command but it would appreciated to have a little clarification

nachotacos69 commented 5 months ago

update: i can now extract my modified iso and attempted to replace en_base_display_name to a english counterpart. and the result is still the same

Capture NPJH50352_00003

my only guess that its either from text limitation, encoding text issue (UTF-8), font issue or some emulator issue. im gonna try to change utf-8 to 16le from game_text.tr2 to see what i can do

edit: update for this thing still the same, my bet is either the font issue or mostly text limitation NPJH50352_00004

also when i fully translated the article.tr2, npc.tr2 on the dlc counterpart, it crashes while loading your save data (not the emulator, the actual PSP)

gil-unx commented 5 months ago

use gecv or tr2edit

you use , the jp version, that use fixed buffer for displaying, aragami name, around 10 char

gil-unx commented 5 months ago

and whichever version you edit, let's match it

nachotacos69 commented 5 months ago

i use whatever I use, commonly, I use the GECV one and this one => TR2 editor by nyirsh, article.tr2 and mission.tr2 takes time to load so I mostly extract them on a different tool outside of GECV TR2 Editor.

Also I use God Eater Burst [NPJH50352] which is updated to patch 1.01 with 1.61 DLC

gil-unx commented 5 months ago

sorrr for that, i forgot included tr2 argument

nachotacos69 commented 5 months ago

mainly, mission.tr2 being fully translated works with the actual PSP, but when the article.tr2 is translated, it crashes the game.. even if I use force extra memory, it's still crashes.. my usually option for this is to skip it or something

my current option right now is skipping it

i think is tr2 editor, issue, just compare, article.tr2 original and article.tr2 exported by editor, the GECV doesnt have pointerseek same fiture, so the exported tr2 being more big than original, or the game alocated fixed memory for load article.tr2 file

nachotacos69 commented 5 months ago

I see, I'll try to do something about this one.. also, try to check around, https://github.com/nyirsh/GEBUtils, maybe you can do something about this?

yeah last night i modified some code, that the tr2 editor is very fast.

nachotacos69 commented 5 months ago

the repository seems to have a GEB plugin that seems to do a dump and inject TR2 stuff...

Currently I don't know how it works and I don't know how to extract/decompile .prx files for better understanding

nachotacos69 commented 5 months ago

So basically I need to minimize en_base_display_name values/letters as much as possible?

can you run it in real psp?
