On Mac OS X I cannot write the symbols: {, [, á, é, í... #816

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Just press the key {
2.

What is the expected output? 
When you press the key {, I expect the symbol {

What do you see instead?
Nothing

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Editra 0.7.20 on Mac OS Maverick, but on Mac OS Lion I had the same problem

What method of install was your version installed with (Binary/Source)?
Binary

If from source: What version of python and wxPython are you using?
