When pressing ENTER in the URL line no longer opens new tab #196

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. type a URL like imdb.com into URL line
2.
3.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
it should open a new tab, instead it uses existing tab

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
29.0.1547.57, Win 7 x64

Does not work with Chrome v29.0.1547.62 either

It looks like Google has abandoned this tool.  Does anyone know of another 
extension that will open a new tab when pressing enter on the URL line?
