The whole idea about portable is not wanting to run an installer

And it's not an installer, it's a self extracting 7-zip archive.

How do you know? Portable files are zip

rimrul commented 4 months ago

How do you know?

Because I know how the portable files are generated.

Portable files are zip

Some are, some aren't. The Git for Windows ones aren't.

But nobody cares that you know. How should any user know? The reason they invented file extensions, is they give some sort of idea what they are/do.

I think that's not the only location it's documented, but that's the first I found.

The reason they invented file extensions, is they give some sort of idea what they are/do.

And .exe is a perfectly reasonable extensions for Windows executables.

But nobody cares that you know.

And I don't care much about continuing this fruitless conversation.

You have to directly write it above the file or maybe you can rename the file to

@rimrul Take a look at this clowns other "contibutions". He's just an allround a-hole. Ignore this guy. Better: block him.

@RobThree please watch your language. I want a welcoming and inviting culture here, and what you said wasn't, however well-intentioned it might have been.

@f1-outsourcing I understand that you are frustrated, but venting in such entitled a manner will only accomplish one thing: to alienate the very people you would like to help you. It is also very much outside the lines of our code of conduct. Please reflect on that before asking for any further assistance in this project.
