PITCH COMPETITION BOUNTY - Fund Public Goods using Etherum Technology #214

this is a pitch bounty; the TLDR is you pitch me on an idea and a plan to build it, and ill pay out the top ones (and maybe fund the build out if the plan appears credible:

design brief: the whole ecosystem runs on public goods, the digital infrastructure that is available for free as open source software

yr-bags

because these dependancies dont have a business model, they often languaish without attention or funding.

we are looking to build mechanisms which can fund these tools in a credibly neutral way ( https://www.coindesk.com/defi-degens-funding-next-wave-open-source ) leveraging Ethereum-native tools

the cool thing about Gitcoin is we already have a treasury of $5m + 100k software developers, and we could plasuibly partner with YOU in order to bring many new public goods funding concepts to life.

thats what brings us to this bounty:

i would like you to write a one-pager about an idea for funding open source software using Ethereum technology. the one-pager should cover the what/how, and should be based on trends in the ecosystem that have traction/momentum/legitimacy.

some examples of things that have traction/momentum/legitimacy IMHO:

  1. apply on gitcoin
  2. post a paragraph about your idea (or email me kevin@gitcoin.co if u dont want to share publicly, but be mindful im of the mind that ideas dont have value without execution behind them, so i'm not willing to deal with the complicated overhead of NDAs etc)
  3. ill approve you
  4. you have 1 week to wrtie your pitch. submit it as a google doc and make sure kevin@gitcoin.co has access
  5. on may 10th (ish) ill award the top pitches with 1 ETH (1st place), 0.5 ETH (2nd place), and 0.25 ETH (3rd place). i may award honrable mentions on a case by case basis, but pls dont expect something just bc you made a pitch.
  6. thats it!

a good pitch has all these details:

  1. team
  2. convince me that this could be big with market sizing
  3. market research that shows me u understand the taret audience
  4. product proposal/solution
  5. execution path
  6. what you need to be successful from me (the person ur pitching to)

Create a DAO where tenants and house owners can interact and manage deposits and rent payment. The advance deposit (which is generally 10 times monthly rent) deposited by tenants will be put into safe jointly owned by tenants, house owner and DAO. In case of dispute DAO will vote and decide about proceeds locked up in safe. Amount in safe will be invested via yearn or compound like lending protocols, earning passive income. 2) rob-lw has been approved to start work.

Hi All. I would like to propose an idea based around Quadratic Funding / Voting, whereby local communities obtain a voice in distributing funding / grants in their local area, be that local sustainability projects, education or revival of local community businesses. The objective, of this proposal, is to enhance the local communities. 3) writeprovidence has been approved to start work.

Fundraising is very subjective to project, needs, ecosystem and objectives of a particular goal. I will be exploring how bonding curve helps in fundraising with token having utility and security functions towards the overall use of public good. 4) ivanmolto has been approved to start work.

Crowdfunding is faced with a major problem- accountability. In a lot of cases, there are delays in the transfer of money, and sometimes, the money doesn't reach the recipient altogether! Also, in the case that money is given to a scam campaign, you may never want to donate again. With blockchain technology, you know more information. Like who you’re going to send money to and how they plan to spend the money. On the other hand, the receivers will also receive more support for their projects with lower fees and overall cost, without hefty fees from lawyers. There is a high need for crowd funding for charities and non-profits in particular. I aim to create a plan wherein a novice user is able to browse through non-profits/charities filtered on the basis of the causes they wish to support, see all details of that non-profit/charity including how they will spend the money, and then donate the money in full confidence that it will be used in the right place.

Hi sorry, I think my idea doesn't fit in the category @owocki . I would like to pitch this instead:

Building a quadratic funding platform for funding open source projects using Ethereum technology and help finance the developers' expenditures. All the open source developers working on the projects can be incentivized this way. The funding for the open source project can be calculated via the quadratic funding formula and the amount of time spent by the people on the project.

hey all; i just chatted with austin this morning and it looks like the R&D workstream is taking longer to put together than we anticipated. i was hoping to process the submissions to this bounty through that workstream, but i dont think its fair to wait any longer.
