Translate the GreenPill book into another language. #269

There are members of the community who are translating the GreenPilled: How Crypto can Regenerate the World into the following languages:

  1. Mandarin
  2. Spanish
  3. Italian
  4. French
  5. Indonesian
  6. Turkish
  7. Korean
  8. Hindi
  9. Arabic
  10. Russian
  11. Portugese
  12. Japanese

This is a bounty for those team members to be rewarded upon successful translation.

Successful =

  1. Your work is not copied. Your work is original.
  2. I run it by a native speaker of that language + they say "this translation is good". YOUR TRANSLATION MUST BE READ LIKE A GOOD NATIVE TRANSLATION. DO NOT WORK ON A LANGUAGE YOU DO NOT HAVE STRONG WRITING AND GRAMMAR SKILLS IN. IF YOU DO THAT YOU ARE GOING TO WASTE YOUR TIME!
  3. You license it back to Gitcoin to distribute along with the English copy of the book. Per the CC4 liscense, you may also retain a distribution right to the book.

How to claim the bounty:

  1. Join https://t.me/+c_BxQmyxXdg2YThh + say hello + mention what language you are interested in translating.
  2. Find the book source files and the trello board which tracks translation projects to find an active translation group for the language of your choosing .
  3. Double and triple check the trello board to make sure there is not another group translating the same language as you. DO NOT SKIP THIS STEP, YOU WILL RISK WASTING A LOT OF TIME IF YOU DO. I only have budget for one translation per language, and will be rewarding the best successful translation per language only!
  4. Translate the book (and have fun while doing it :))
  5. Proofread the translation to make sure that it is a successful translation.
  6. If you work together with other members of the community, decide how you want to divide the labour/the reward.
  7. DM me the figma link and PDF link of the translated book on telegram (i'm username owocki). Please include an ETH payout address for you / your group)
  8. Submit your work on Gitcoin.co.
  9. Do the above by May 1st 2022.

I have a budget of 0.1337 ETH per translation for each of the 12 languages listed above.

I will be reading the book first. I'll be translating the whole book in Hindi, page by page keeping in mind the psychology of the reader. I'll focus on translating the connotation without skipping any words. I'll do everything just in a week thanks to my long experience. I am Carol Wang, main translator of Mandarin version. We have already done it in 10, March, so here is not a plan but a post-submit of bounty to obey the formal process. Happy to see Mandarin version as the first non-english version sold in website. And we set greenpill_cn telegram to welcome people to learn and review the translation together. Till now we have updated three times. Great initiative! Just want to point out that Mandarin is not a language, it's just a dialect for spoken Chinese. For Chinese print language it should be Simplified Chinese or Traditional Chinese (they are very similar).

I did not do it. I was approved to do it, but someone get in the way to accomplish it. However, i asked since you said that is still in review

@bobjiang I don't see that user was approved to work, why his contribution was taken in count if the bounty states that don't start to work if not approved? I was approved to but I didn't started because I did not receive updates and someone else was doing it

Thank you very much for the feedback! (I guess you're referring to Spanish language) the submitted version is rejected because of low quality.

The current published version is from telegram group (review group), and it is high quality, but it will not get reward because didn't match the bounty rules.

but if you approve two persons for the bounty, why you went ahead an find someone in other sources, Since I was approved to work on the bounty, can I send my work translation, as you review in quality and it might be of help for other formats, appreciate it advance, I was approve to work, never start to work if not approve

good question, the fact is we don't look for someone else, but they provided the translated Spanish version as volunteer, you can join the tg group to get more context.

if I was on your position i will have discarded with "We fortunate to approved to hunters for that specific translation, as much as your translations looks of high quality, we are in need to rejected". I wanted to delivered my work, the moment I saw someone else was working on the same translation I knew that it would create confusion, coordination failure

@Paul sorry to hear your work wasn't approved but the rules put this: "YOUR TRANSLATION MUST BE READ LIKE A GOOD NATIVE TRANSLATION." and for many people your work was a copy paste from google translate.

Friendly reminder that coordination failures begin in the individual and it spread like cancer to the community.

Last but not least, Cypherpunk Citadel DAO never was interested in the bounty. Our main goal always has been to contribute in the adoption.

Hope this topic gets old and we could put our efforts in keep building a better world.

@Ariiellus in that case i join tonight to the Cypherpunk Citadel DAO please claim the bounty on my behalf. & payout for what is deversed. I even had time to consider the deliver of my work. I wouldn't have applied for this task if I don't feel i was a good fit for it
