i really would like to launch some sort of educational tool … not sure what it looks like, but incentivizing kids and young adults to contribute to OSS from very young

Me too. Doing it with Gitcoin seem feasible.

I used to run a robots class with the kids at an elemantary school where I am living. It was quite impressive to see how fast children grasp concepts of hard- and software development and I had the idea to "funnel" pocket money through a repo using Gitcoin.

I would be really nice to be able to do something like this:

set a couple of tasks within an educational project repo
put bounties on all of those tasks
ideally "overfund" them so that the submitter of the merged pull request recieves a big bounty and all other kids who submitted but didn't get their code merged recieve an equal share of the smaller portion of the total bounty.

This way there would be a place to come and learn while increasing pocket money and it incentivises the young folks to show excellence while keeping them motivated during the ramp-up of building their skills.

i'm down to try it (and can even bring a little budget)... but would need intros to 'customer's.
