GitHub Classroom automates repository creation and access control, making it easy for teachers to distribute starter code and collect assignments on GitHub.
Issue
Teachers and students have problems with the assignment deadlines:
When teachers/TAs set up a deadline, they don’t expect students to be able to continue submitting past the due date.
When using Classroom Assistant to grade assignments that have a due date, teachers/TAs expect to be able to see whether the assignment was submitted on time (esp. if late submissions impact their grade). They'd like to be able to download and check the last version before the deadline instead of the last commit. (See related issue: https://github.com/education/classroom/issues/1810)
Teachers/TAs assume that students are notified of the deadline.
