We are going to do a bunch of roundtables at GitHub soon and invest a lot of time talking with groups of 8-10 Hubbers to hear from them what is important in designing useful performance feedback processes that are on going and not (Office Space) awful & painful....Happy to share the high level themes of course if anyone else is trying to get input or switch things up a bit where you are.

Also gonna share this Issue/repo with the start up HR alias group to see if we can get a long thread in here of real time feedback and wants from employees at other companies. Also, ask your employees (any, all functions) to jump on here and share their thoughts...cross company feedback from employees all in here on this topic would be amazing and something I have never actually seen before in one place...

Love this idea. I am doing the same at Stitch fix with a cross-functional group. Am interested to hear from others and will share what I learn as well.

I love this too. I have some very specific thoughts around performance management and how "traditional" systems should be changed.

kellidrag commented 10 years ago

awesome lets do that and encourage your guys' employees to join here too, would be great to see some feedback from non -HR real time too. I just sent an email to start up HR letting them all know this is happening here, so hopefully we will have more too.! :+1:

I think the better questions "when have you had great, actionable feedback about your performance. Asking about performance reviews is like "which of these bad things is not completely sucky?" I personally advocate abolishing the annual performance review process.

Nailed it Patty. Focus on the outcomes and impact. I don't think the old school annuals are working either. And, I'm also feeling skeptical about how it seems like everyone is now tossing them out. Another HR trend that we all jump on...or off in this case. Need a better way. Looking forward to discussing.

isn't it about continuous feedback? we've over complicated it. it needs to be less about the systems and process and more about the culture.

Yes...we don't have an annual process at all, nothing, and won't. Trying to give some level of tools and just a tiny bit of structure (just enough) to help guide and help facilitate year round, actionable, real (even if a 3 min hallway real talk conversation) all the time without the B.S.

we use small improvements for feedback/recognitions
