Monthly open town halls @ GitHub #5

Hey all,

I am currently kicking around an idea with Liz, our Head of Comms in hosting a consistent monthly town hall series here at GitHub, partnering with and opening it up to companies like all of ours, our employees, our leaders, and accelerate ideas or creative solutions to common challenges or topics we all share...I would also love to pilot this idea separately with a few of you who may be interested in being guinea pigs with me.

Would love to bring employees, leaders, students, whoever with like interests and challenges together to collectively to push interesting things forward.

@kellidrag this is something that @github/finance certainly would have an interest in hosting. All of us at one point or another have had discussions with peer companies in the area (Airbnb, Square, Uber, Box, Dropbox, Twilio, Optimizely, App Dynamics...etc..) since we all share similar issues. The first floor would be a great venue for something like this. Let us know how we should go about getting something like this scheduled.

We are having a meeting internally on Monday 7/7 to start brainstorming what this could look like. Would love to hear other ideas, people, companies that are interested and may want to partner up on this to test the first town hall and see what it could look like...

If we want to start with a finance one @scottbuxton we totally could...

@kellidrag definitely do not have to start with us. We all have a ton on our plate right now so I was thinking Fall/Winter for our group. My guess is you will have interest for an event well before that.

It would be great if you could post topics and dates to the forum and a way for folks to opt to attend. I'd love to come or speak or participate occasionally!

Yep, for sure. We are meeting on Thursday here to start to get planning and get the ball rolling, I will be following up on it soon! :thumbsup:
