editing a cell then switching focus can cause the old cell code to be reexecuted

this only happens when you delete the cell contents completely; and you can reproduce it by explicitly submitting the cell as well as switching focus.

to repro:

• put something in the cell (e.g. Math.random())
• execute it
• delete the cell contents
• execute it, see that it runs the old code
