When I checkedout my branch from command line, it said that "Switched to a new branch 'Pgbonino-badajoz'"

Why was that? The branch was supposed to already exist as I created from the repository browser

Yep, that's right! It didn't exist locally, but it existed as a remote tracking branch. Does this answer your question?
