@hollenberry would you mind testing the course with Travis? If it works, we can start building the course preference logic and plan for the responses to address both services.

Yes! I'll test and add Travis variants to the responses after they've been generated. This will likely be Friday due to training this week.

Did some testing on Travis and found the following:

Circle will start a build without a config (and fail). Travis won't even start it. We can get around this by either (a) requiring the learner to open a PR with the travis YML or (b) include a Travis config in the template repo (I haven't verified this)
The initial build fails because there is no Rakefile, which is default for Ruby projects.
The GitHub Apps (w/ Checks API) only works on travis-ci.com -- in fact, they seem to be moving most things over to Dotcom? I experienced quite a number of bugs with .org and using the old oauth app.

@hollenberry based on some conversation, I think it’s best we create instead separate courses for Circle and Travis rather than rely on course preferences. I’m still glad to be responsible for building as much of the logic as I can but if you get to this issue before me keep in mind that we can change some of the steps around to ensure the course works with Travis but, if possible, I’d like to reuse as much of the Circle logic and responses as I can.

@ppremk since you were asking about the Travis course.

I've implemented the course with Travis! It's available on staging. I'll update the initial tracking issue with links to course and template repo, too.
