support distro CFLAGS and LDFLAGS #251

I tried to build 0.4.0 for Fedora and it seems the current makefiles reset CFLAGS and LDFLAGS. This is not good for most modern Linux distros which have various default flags expected for debuginfo and hardening etc (the Debian package also has a patch for this).

Could you please consider such an RFE?
