The space shuttle loses stability during flight #3

so i run OPS3 as normal and most of the flight when fine until around 65 km where it banks 90 degrees and when the guidance commands to to bank less it just loses control image

i noticed that when going into the thicker air the rcs start firing stronger and stronger to counteract something until the shuttle flips out, the problem is with the roll or something, also i tested it today and it seems like the issue starts immediately when i go below 62 km like the rcs fires maximum after 62 km and around 61.7 km it just rolls over and loses stability

It seems to me the issue is not with the script but with your craft, incorrect cg can cause all sorts of instability and saturate the rcs.

You need to provide more information on exactly which entry interface conditions you encountered and what was your OMS/RCS tank quantity, also what payload you carried and how it was placed

Nemo2507 commented 6 months ago

The RCS was not saturate at all the for the OMS tank i have around 70% of propellant (i transferred the fuel from the front) and i didnt have any payload

giuliodondi commented 6 months ago

By saturation I mean the control range, if the inputs are maxed (saturated) then your craft is simply in a condition too unstable for the script to control.

70% of OMS quantity is far too much, especially if it's all at the back. 40% is even stretching it, try to aim for a quarter

also i tested your solution and it worked but another issue is the shuttle REALLY doesn't want to roll on approach like the guidance indicator diamond is literally at the edge of the screen but the DAP doesn't roll the shuttle at all, it treats the shuttle like when doing a roll reversal, the roll indicator was showing that the DAP was not fully doing the roll and mostly tries to stabilize the roll rather than focusing on doing the roll, in your video when the guidance approaches the HDG phase the shuttle immediately follows the diamond but in my case when the guidance approaches HDG phase the shuttle was pitching down to correct for the pitch that it didn't correct in ACQ phase and the problem didnt just appear in HDG phase it already starts appearing in ACQ phase when the RCS were turned off the guidance tells it to bank to the left but the shuttle takes a VERY VERY long time to do what the guidance tells it to do and when it corrects it the guidance switches to HDG phase and following when the correction for the pitch was completed, the shuttle doesnt follow the diamond like in your video, i mean it follows but VERY slowly and when it finished the turn the shuttle was low, slow, and far from the runway, any help? (i spent like 10 minutes typing this)

Also can i have your discord? I want to talk to you directly cuz i have wayyy to many problems with your scripts and stuff and most of them is just me being an idiot

You can write me on discord at at dolin4214 .

In any case, I never encountered the steering isues you describe, I've done some pushes to reduce the coupling between roll and pitch during HDG phase in some edge cases but roll was always very responsive. I'm going to need some debug logs or at the very least a series of screenshots to figure out what's going on

Nemo2507 commented 6 months ago

Ill run another test and record the log with some screenshots during the flight but it will be tomorrow tho cuz im about to sleep

Nemo2507 commented 5 months ago

ops3_log.csv

i didnt take screenshots but i did record a video during where the problem starts check discord
