why not, I admit that I am particularly difficult in terms of diagram software and that I find freemind particularly limited and ugly. and for me, a software of one's objective is a diagram being ugly is a particularly important defect.

for me, import is a good idea only if is just import/export and nothing more

my favorite mind map software is drawexpress (below 2.0.0), but it's only on android and it's not free. on pc my software that I use is yed which is free, but it doesn't seem to me that it is open source and it's far from perfect in my opinion. a software that seems to me powerful is edrawmax from wondershare but I never tested it because of its price.

you may also can exporting cherry tree as dot file for graphvis

Thanks for getting back to on this Jean-Raphael! I'll check out the GraphViz option (My current version of cherry tree - from Linux Snap Repos - is too old it seems for that option).

One other idea - just having an XML output + the facility to run an XSLT - might open up the option to end-users - they can provide their own conversion scripts that way. Thanks again,

Hello Giuseppe, hope you are doing well. The mind map view of the hierarchical tree is a very nice idea. I recall a program that does that but it lacks features of Cherrytree, it is View Your Mind: http://www.insilmaril.de/vym/ Hope a mind map view can be possible in the near future. Best regards.
