Why do I have all of these ~ files #2326

I'm on Windows 10 Build 10.0.19045.

CherryTree 1.0.0

In my CherryTree data folder I keep getting files with the name ~. CherryTree doesn't appear to be crashing.

Why is it making these files and how do I get it to stop?

Those are backup files. By default it is configured to 3 backups, you can change that in the preferences but if you are annoyed from those files it is advised instead to configure a dedicated backup directory rather than disabling the backups. Look at the preferences dialog, tab miscellaneous
