Version, Operative system State the Version and the Operative System/Desktop. Try the latest available version before reporting an issue.

MX Linux 23.2 (Debian 12.5) KDE Plasma v. 5.27.5

Installed by MX Package Installer

Describe the bug A clear and concise description of what the bug is.

The program window is unable to spawn a file Open dialog window, and is also unable to spawn a file save dialog.

Other programs are installed by same method, like Inkscape and Freecad. Those does not have this issue.

The lack of Open/save features pretty much renders the program useless on this distro.

To Reproduce If applicable, attach a non-personal document where the issue can be reproduced systematically. Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. Set up MX Linux with KDE desktop
  2. Install Cherrytree using the MX Package Installer
  3. Open Cherrytree (may have to log out in order for some application icons gets visible from the menu)
  4. Attemt to open a file - or create a node and try to save as new file.

Expected behavior The Open file/document dialogbox should appear. And file -> Save as should make a File save dialog box to appear.

Observed behavior No dialog box appears at all. After attempt to open or save as, the main window goes to previous state (i.e. is able to write and manipulate in normal ways).

Exception: When adding a note and some random content (some random characters from the keyboard, amounts to less than 200 characters in total) and consequently attempt to close brings up the dialog box that ask the user to save the data. If the user select "Save" it seems to cause CT to freeze.

Workaround: Use appimage instead. I tested appimage and I cannot see any no issue regarding spawning file open and file save dialog boxes.
