Cut & Paste from Cherrytree to Gnome Text Editor doesn't work. #2465

Cut & Paste from Cherrytree to Gnome Text Editor doesn't work. The text is copied, however, paste results in no action. Copied text can be pasted in other Apps (eg: Firefox, Thunderbird, a Term) and only seems to affect Gnome Text Editor.

Issue might be with the editor, but I haven't found any related posts. Gnome Text Editor will become the default editor in Ubuntu 24.04, so we may see other reports come April.

Has anyone else experienced this issue, if not, perhaps a post on Gnome Text Editor github is justified?

I will have a look, can you also try copy as plain text (Ctrl+Shift+C) and then Paste in Gnome Text Editor and report how it goes?

Also which type of cherrytree build are you running? deb package / flatpak / snap / AppImage

  1. Ctrl+Shift+C and then Ctrl+v results in the same behaviors as outlined above.
  2. Installed from PPA (https://ppa.launchpadcontent.net/giuspen/ppa/ubuntu/).

Note: Coincidentally, I saw the 1.1.0 release yesterday, and upgraded. The issue remains.

I tested on 22.04 cinnamon desktop (mint 21.3), cherrytree v1.1.1, gnome text editor v42.2 and copy and paste worked perfectly from rich or plain text. Can you run cherrytree from the terminal and check if you see any error printed in cherrytree when paste into gnome text editor doesn't work?

The issue remains, if you mean simply typing "cherrytree" in a term. Prior to testing I also updated to Cherrytree v1.1.1.

Though Cinnamon is based on GNOME, perhaps GNOME desktop 42.9 (Wayland) has something to do with it. Can you spin up a VM with Ubuntu 22.04.4 and try?

Yes @Tyrewt I am going to test on a pure GNOME and get back
