Ymir Religion change suggestion #59

Being the newest god to be added to Conan Exiles, it makes sense that Ymir is a little rough around the edges, and hopefully changes are soon to follow. But in my opinion the religion is not really a valid option compared to any other, as it stands. I'll do my best expressing my opinion as to why and what changes TERPO might want to add.

1 (geathering tool) Hoar-Frost Hatchet This is the tool of trade for a Yimir priest, used to harvest Ice shards. The theoretical benefit with this tool is that you harvest the shards from trees, meaning you don't have to risk fighting a human foe. Disregarding the fact that this kind of go against Ymir's theme as a god of war, it is simply not practical. If you are lucky you will get one shard out of every other tree. After one hour of farming, I had gathered up 67 shards. In comparison, I made just as much lingering essence in under ten minutes. During which I also looted a lot of good stuff from corpses and chests. But while I was chopping wood with the Hatchet, I am essentially wasting time since its harvest rate is incredibly low giving you about 1 to 3 wood per blow.

Suggestion Make it so that the Hoar-frost Hatchet gain shards from human corpses like the other religion. I'd say if that sort of collection makes sense for anyone, it would be the god of war after all. Or buff the Hatchet's harvest rate to be equal to the steel pickaxe, but have it only be usable by priests of Ymir. As it stands right now, the priests of Ymir are essentially gatherers. The hatchet gains its resource from wood, and their main benefit is the production of Black Ice. The problem of course being that their harvest rate is about as low as they come and at the moment, they have none of the benefits offered by every other religion.

I can see the gatherer role work for a Ymir priest. As he might be more focused on providing for his people, rather than personal glory in battle. That was kinda the idea I had in my head, when I heard they can produce black ice. Then I just took a steel pickaxe to some nodes of black ice, yielding a much bigger harvest than I could produce in the same time, and I wondered just what was the point?

2 Utility

Ymir easily has the worst utility out of any religion in the game. Their arrows are more expensive and worse than the Setite equivalent. Their armour looks medium/heavy but barely has eight points of defense on its strongest point. And the weapon is... Okay... Its not bad, but its not better than any of the other weapons, and coupled with the aforementioned resource gathering its really not worth it. The only potentially redeemable quality of this religion is the production of black ice. But its way easier to just harvest it in the northern biome. And the process is so slow, it is simply not worth the effort to do it in the desert.

Suggesation Obviously this depends heavily on how the first segment is handled. But the way I see it, either the harvest rate of ice shards need to be increased, or the cost of arrows should be reduced. The armor should be increased to be equal to medium/heavy armour. Producing black ice, simply is simply redundant as it stands. So again, either the harvest yield must be increased to make it easier to produce, or the cost should be dramatically lowered.

I like this.

IDEA: Up the harvest rate (25%? 50%?) for ice/black ice (not stone), when the Hoar Frost Hatchet is used to harvest rock monsters or ice nodes - seems to be thematically appropriate given Ymir's sphere of influence, and adds utility to Ymir followers (which I agree seems a bit lackluster ATM).
