Hi,

Is it possible to get the video signal from tv scart with a scart adaptator (scart --> s-video) and directly plug in the USB grabber in the scrat adaptator (set in OUT mode) ?

Thx

Trying to answer that question...

The problem is, that most TVs only give signals to Scart Out if you are using its internal receiver. HDMI sources wont be given to the Scart Out of your TV.

But even if it does I think you will need to set the grabber to a mode where it takes the S-Video signal. By default it uses the CVBS input.

I know its not the answer you are love to get, but I hope it help you anyway.

Thx for your quick answer.

And what about if I use the component socket (yellow one) of the scart out adaptator to plug in the USB grabber ?

There will be still the problem that you can just use the internal receiver of your TV an not "any hdmi device".

Yes, sure.

I will test if the signal is available from the scart with a movie read from the external USB HDD directly plugged in the tv and read by it.

I tryed this on my Samsung Series 8 with plex media player. And it goes totaly black =( Its working perfectly asloong as i dont use any addons or change from normal tv. (hdmi black, external hd black, any other source than scart or tv makes it black...) Seems like i have to go back to boblight with xbmc =( (since i dont have any external units exept for my sound system) And i was hoping all along that my raspberry wuld be a passive unit. Not sure i will get the same quality from xbmc as the built in addon plex. (when it comes to 3d and dts sound)

But ill find out soon!
