There's a huge drawback here, being that the board does not do HDCP.
That rules out very much signals from being processed.
I do hear some workarounds, being going HDMI -> DVI -> HDMI which works for some cases, but does sound like a really clunky solution (even though I guess behind the TV no one would think about that...)
Yeah I just saw that point. Maybe they can get the proper licensing, or do the DVI conversion as a stretch goal.
Yep...
It is very odd though, as the list of intended uses are 2 out of 4 blocked by HDCP, with the camcorders being a somewhat hit or miss depending on model. I don't believe DVD players with HDMI out normally uses HDCP, but I guess some models may do this as well...
It would depend on the DVD in the player, IIRC. If it's an actual movie, the output will be protected by HDCP. If it's just some home video you burnt to a DVD, there will be no HDCP.
I just found this on Kickstarter: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1419380698/connect-your-hd-camcorder-to-your-raspberry-pi?ref=discovery
It's an HDMI Capture Board that plugs into a Raspberry Pi. How easy would it be to support this as the video source?
