Thanks for the bug report! Please do the following in a terminal:
ls /usr/share/help/C/com.github.gkarsay.parlatype/
There should be some files listed. Do you have them?
yelp help:com.github.gkarsay.parlatype
This should show you the help pages. Does it work? If it doesn't work, please rerun it this way and paste the output:
LANGUAGE=C yelp help:com.github.gkarsay.parlatype
Please paste also the output of this command:
apt-cache policy parlatype
By the way, the help is not translated to french yet. But you should see at least the english help pages.
ls /usr/share/help/C/com.github.gkarsay.parlatype/
drag-and-drop.page first-steps.page keyboard-shortcuts.page media-keys.page selections.page
figures index.page legal.xml preferences.page timestamps.page
yelp help:com.github.gkarsay.parlatype
shows the help in a new window but in english, not in french.
$ apt-cache policy parlatype
parlatype:
Installé : 1.5.4-0ubuntu1\~xenial1
Candidat : 1.5.4-0ubuntu1\~xenial1
Table de version :
*** 1.5.4-0ubuntu1~xenial1 500
500 http://ppa.launchpad.net/gabor-karsay/parlatype/ubuntu xenial/main amd64 Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status
So it is installed but doesn't show up. I found a bug report on Ubuntu that suggests that it might be MATE specific: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/yelp/+bug/1360756
Do you have the same problem for other applications?
I did not have this problem yet.
Do you have a file named /usr/share/applications/yelp.desktop
?
What is the output of this command?:
xdg-mime query default x-scheme-handler/help
If there is no ouput and you have the desktop file, please do this:
xdg-mime default /usr/share/applications/yelp.desktop x-scheme-handler/help
Log out, log in and check whether Parlatype launches help.
xdg-mime query default x-scheme-handler/help : yelp.desktop
I executed the command xdg-mime default /usr/share/applications/yelp.desktop x-scheme-handler/help and rebooted and I've got always the error.
I'm using Linux Mint MATE 18.3 now. You should install it into VirtualBox and test, I think you could reproduce the error.
I downloaded a virtualbox image from osboxes.org for Linux Mint 18.2 Sonya, Mate version, 32 bit. After apt-get update && upgrade
I installed Parlatype from git master and I can't reproduce this issue, help pages are shown.
I uninstalled Parlatype, installed it new from PPA version 1.5.4. Same picture here: I can't reproduce the issue. Finally I switched language to French. There is no difference, it's working as it should.
At the moment I have no idea why it's not working for you. I have no other recommendation than uninstalling and installing again.
Can't reproduce either (Ubuntu 19.10, x64)

Other information
Please add any other information that might be useful.
For example if there is a problem with the display of the waveform, which theme do you use? Maybe a screenshot can illustrate the problem.
